Good practice & resources

This section of the website provides information about current and emerging areas of good practice in the use of the PRS to resettle homeless people and a range of resources that will be of use to service providers who wish to work with the private rented sector.

The good practice and resources in this section will be drawn from a wide variety of sources, including statutory bodies, local authorities, landlord and tenant groups, and voluntary agencies including Crisis. It is our intention that this site should host material from across the sector to help facilitate best practice sharing and reduce duplication. We will present the information under various subsections to make it easy for you to find the information you are looking for.

Crisis has developed a set of key principles for private rented sector access schemes. These principles have been developed in conjunction with an expert group of stakeholders and are intended for service providers involved in the delivery of PRS access schemes and those involved in commissioning and designing services.

Crisis has produced a good practice guide with supporting documentation, and the CLG guidance 'Settled housing solutions in the private rented sector' also provides useful guidance for service providers.

If you know of any guidance or resources relating to supporting homeless people to move into the PRS, please email us at private.renting@crisis.org.uk
