We are working closely with
Crisis to evaluate effective practice in rent deposit schemes (RDSs), and to provide evidence to Local Authorities that will encourage them to broaden out the provision of their existing schemes, which currently focus their resources on statutory need groups, to non-statutory groups.
Specifically, we are working with Crisis to:
- Evaluate good practice in RDSs
- Make the business case for RDSs (in particular, it will be aimed at Local Authorities to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of extending their existing RDSs to non-statutory homeless individuals)
- Identifying the factors in RDSs that determine successful resettlement in London
- Develop a best practice toolkit to be widely disseminated to agencies across London, including all Local Authorities.
The evaluation and toolkit will be available to download from this website in late 2007.
