A best practice model for deposit schemes
Crisis SmartMove is a nationwide network of deposit schemes that provide non-statutory homeless people with access to good quality accommodation in the private sector and support to sustain a home.
Crisis SmartMove is delivered by local voluntary organisations around the UK in accordance with the SmartMove best practice model developed by Crisis. Since its launch in 1997, Crisis SmartMove has helped over 11,000 people into housing. The local organisations that deliver SmartMove are embedded within their local communities and are well placed to meet local need.
The projects that make up the SmartMove network have evolved over time and amassed a wealth of expertise, which is one of the scheme's greatest strengths. Crisis fosters the sharing of good practice across the network, provides training and advice for project workers and continues to develop the SmartMove model.
Crisis SmartSkills
The
Crisis SmartSkills is a pilot programme that builds on the work of SmartMove by linking private sector housing solutions with opportunities for tenants to develop their life skills and identify where they really want to be in life. Tenants engage with an individually tailored learning programme that is accredited by City and Guilds to build their skills and confidence, and to help them move away from homelessness permanently
